The Federal Pell Grant is the most popular grant for undergraduate students who are either in traditional schools or pursuing an online degree. There is also the SMART Grant which is a federal option targeting those fields related to math, science, language or computer science. The primary goal is to pursue these courses that will greatly improve or help the national security. There are instances that you simply do not qualify for a federal grant, In this case, you may need to contact with professional organizations in your chosen field. This is really good especially if you are pursuing a technical degree or a degree that needs more students simply due to its difficulty or its being unpopular. There are many grants that are merit based, based on demography and minority groups. Remember that a number of grants may require one to attend an accredited program. So when you are looking for an online school, make sure that the school is fully accredited so that you will be able to use the grant money for your online education.
