From the Office of Administration

It is definitely nice to know that your favorite soda drink is helping a lot of people. If you happen to love Coca-Cola then you have more reasons to love this brand. A number of people are not aware that there is a Coca-Cola Scholar Program. It offers several scholarships that reward more than 1,400 students. There are actually two programs being supported by Coca-Cola. Please keep in mind that one does not have to be a patronizer of this drink in order to qualify. The Coca-Cola Scholars program's application starts from August 1 up to October 31 of the students' senior year in high school. This is applicable to students enrolled in traditional and home schools in the United States. They should be legal residents or U.S. citizens. The required minimum GPA is 3.0 at the end of their junior year. Also, the applicants should not be children or grand children of Coca-Cola employees.

Every year there are 250 four-year achievement-based scholarships awarded by the Coca-Cola Scholars Program. The committee will choose 2,200 semifinalists from all the original applicants. The semifinalists are required to submit a second application. The committee will narrow down again and choose 250 finalists. The finalists must go to Atlanta for an interview with the National Selection Committee. From the finalists, 50 students will be awarded with $20,000. $10,000 will be awarded to the remaining 200 students. A letter will be sent to the applicant who made it as a finalist. All State Community College Academic Team Program is also Coca-Cola's funded scholarship programs. A $2,000 award money for college is given to the top scoring academic team from every state. Other awards are distributed as follows: 50 students will receive $1,000, another 50 will receive $1,250 and another set of 50 will receive $1,500. Keep in mind that these are awarded to every state. Also, an additional 150 students from multiple states will receive $1,000. For a student to qualify in this program, he or she must be nominated by an authorized individual from his or her respective school. In order to qualify, students must be part of the All-State Academic Teams/All-USA and enrolled in a community college. The two programs discussed are merit based. Students who are interested in applying for these programs must have maintained good GPAs. The competition is very tough and one must always be reminded that he or she is competing with thousands of applicants on every state. Since Coca-Cola cannot attend to everyone's educational needs, it has listed a number of scholarship resources. This list can be found in their website. This is already a big help even if one cannot or did not qualify to their scholarship programs. It is the mere initiative of this company to provide hope for those who think they are hopeless in life.
